Biography

Picture
Jake Sachs is an NJ-based musician, composer, and audio engineer. Growing up in a musical household, he was raised on musical theatre showtunes, The Beatles, and radio hits of the 90s, and all of these have influenced his sound as a rock artist. Music was always in his blood- Jake has perfect pitch and a four octave vocal range. His music has been compared to groups like Weezer, Fountains of Wayne, and Jimmy Eat World, with additional influences of musical theatre, doo-wop, surf, metal, jazz, and video game music. "Continue" is his first major solo album release in 11 years and it's a one-man show-- he wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced every song on this EP.

Jake began singing before he could speak. He began piano and music theory lessons at age 6, and completely fell in love with music. He began formal vocal training and performance by age 8 and studied a variety of vocal styles. He is still active in both the choral and musical theatre worlds today.
Jake first learned to play guitar as young teenager. A few years later, he also started playing bass, which has since become his most preferred instrument outside of his voice. In high school, he picked up drums from playing Rock Band. He recorded his first album, "Press Start", in 2009 on GarageBand as a senior project. He has continued to write and record music in the years since.

Jake began writing music at age 14. As a songwriter and composer, Jake has written rock, choral, a cappella, and jazz pieces. Several of his choral works have been performed by both local choral groups and church choirs, and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback. He began writing arrangements of popular songs for his college a cappella group, Drew University's 36 Madison Avenue, in 2010. He is currently the musical director and primary arranger for Reverb NYC, a nine-person a cappella group based out of New York City.

After studying music at Drew University, Jake went on to pursue Audio Engineering and Production at SAE Institute of Technology. He graduated in 2014 and has since created Jake Sachs Sounds, a privately-run studio and business for music production. As a producer, he has worked with groups and artists such as Newark Academy, Drew University's All of the Above, Maxwell Feinstein, and Manny Cabo of NBC's The Voice.
